You hear about a restaurant in a video, a shop in an article, a place a friend mentions — and by the time you could actually go, it's gone from memory. Detour catches it in the moment and brings it back when you're heading that way.
How it works
- 1 Save it without leaving the app you're in Share text or a link into Detour from any app, or tap the floating Detour button and say the name out loud.
- 2 Confirm before anything is saved Detour suggests up to three matching places. You pick one, edit it if it's wrong, and only then is it saved. Nothing is saved behind your back.
- 3 See what's on your way Enter where you're going and Detour shows which of your saved places sit along that route, in the order you'll pass them.
- 4 Hand off to your navigation app Pick your stops and Detour opens Google Maps or Waze to do the driving directions. Detour doesn't navigate for you.
Your places stay on your phone
Detour has no accounts and no sign-in. The places you save are stored in the app's own storage on your device. Detour does not show ads, does not sell data, and does not build a profile of you.
Everything Detour captures, it captures at the moment you press the button. Depending on the app you are in, a press may read the page or post in front of you, take one still image of the screen, or record a short piece of audio — in Instagram, TikTok and Facebook the recording starts with the press and is sent for transcription only if nothing written named the place. If a link needs opening to identify the place, your phone opens it for an Instagram or TikTok post and Detour's server opens it for anything else.
